The first step before implementing any new landscape should always be to take a soil test.

A good lawn and garden begins with good soil.  The best way to find out the condition of your soil is to have it tested every 2 to 3 years.

A soil test will help determine what your native soil is so you can select plants that will do well on your land.  The test includes recommendations for amendments to add to alter the characteristics of your soil for optimal plant growth.

Having you soil tested allows you to monitor the available nutrient, nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium and add what is needed for optimal plant growth and vigor.

The best time to test your soil is late fall and early spring.  This gives the soil microbes time to adjust to, and incorporate the corrections.

A soil test will tell you exactly what your lawn or garden needs so you can add only those nutrients.  We test your soil to get the percentage of organic matter in your sample, which should be at least 3.5 percent or more, along with organic recommendations.

Fertilizing and liming, particularly of lawns, should always follow the soil test recommendations.  Don’t fall into the habit of just adding a little more nitrogen or phosphorus, as over-fertilizing can cause pollution and lawn problems.

Our Standard Soil Test Includes

A determination and interpretation of the percent of organic matter in the soil sample.  The test also provides the pH, Buffer pH, extractable nutrients, extractable heavy metals, cation exchange and percent base saturation.  Recommendations for nutrient and pH adjustments are included within the results.
