Design Process
The design process is an organic and thorough progression. The description below merely touches upon the systems and processes of
interpretation, conceptualization, evaluation and communication.
Phase 1 (Interpretation)
The first step in the design process is for you, the client to request an appointment on our request an appointment page, by email at appointments@oakwisedesign.com or by phone at 978.975.9950. Using the request an appontment page allows you to briefly describe your design needs and will make your initial meetings more productive.
At the initial client interview, we will listen to and document your landscape needs, priorities, overall scope and timeline. We will investigate your site and present our portfolio to you. This appointment takes approximately one hour.
After the initial client interview, a proposal will be sent to you for your review. Upon acceptance of the proposal, the design process may begin. At this time, a formal review of the site, usage requirements and environmental conditions is conducted and a base map of your site is prepared.
To maximize efficiency in preparing the base map, it is helpful for you to provide us with a plot plan of your property. Please click here for a description of a plot plan and where you may find one for your property. If you cannot provide us with a plot plan, a survey may be needed.
Phase 2 (Conceptualization)
Once the base map is complete, a second client meeting is scheduled. Your landscape needs and desires are discussed in much greater detail, using the base map as a reference. After this meeting, Oak Wise Design may begin the conceptual designs.
Phase 3 (Evaluation)
When the conceptual designs are complete, they are provided to you for your review and feedback. With this feedback, your final landscape design is developed based on the concepts you have approved.
Phase 4 (Communication)
During the development of your final landscape design, communication between the designer and the client is essential. Once your design meets your satisfaction, final drawings are delivered to you and you are ready to begin building your landscape.
